Do You Qualify for Medicare’s Home Health Benefit?

What is Medicare’s Home Health Benefit?

Medicare covers a series of home care services to those who qualify. These services are paid for under Medicare Part A and B.

What are these services?

  • Skilled nursing care
    • For up to seven days a week, 28 hours a week, with a possibility of 35 hours in extreme cases, Medicare will cover the full cost of services that can only be performed by a licensed nurse.
  • Skilled therapy care
    • Medicare offers coverage for physical, speech, and occupational therapy. This is covered in cases where you need a licensed therapist to assist you in the maintenance and progress of your condition.
  • Counseling and Social Services
    • Medicare will pay the full cost of services that provide emotional and social support for your illness, as directed by your doctor.
  • Medical Supplies
    • Medicare will cover the full cost of supplies needed to treat your condition, as long as they are provided by a home health care agency that is Medicare-certified.
  • Medical Equipment
    • Medicare will cover a portion of the costs of certain medical equipment, like a wheelchair.
